FAQs
What is copywriting?
In a nutshell, it’s writing that persuades someone to take an action. That could be to ‘read more’, ‘book a call’, ‘buy now’, or ‘sign up today’.
I worked with a copywriter before, and it wasn’t a good experience
Ugh, that sucks, sorry to hear it. Building long-term positive relationships is important to me, and lots of my work is for repeat customers or retainer clients.
I offer a free, no-obligation call to see if we’re a good fit for each other before any work starts.
You can also check out my work and stalk me on LinkedIn to get to know me more.
How do copywriters work?
I’ll ask you lots of questions because I want to build the best picture I can of you and your business.
What you think, how you work, why you do what you do, what you hate about your industry, what you’d do if you were banned from working. EVERYTHING.
So much of the work is done before any writing starts.
Once we’ve agreed to work together, a typical project flows like this:
1. Research
I stalk the heck out of your business, industry, and competitors.
2. Kick-off call
We spend an hour getting 100% on the same page, so I know what I’m doing, and you know what you’re getting.
3. Full draft
I do the writing and walk you through the first draft
4. Revisions
You digest things and share your feedback. Two rounds of revisions are usually included in your quote.
5. Final copy delivered
I send your copy in a Word document or another medium depending on what we agreed.
Extras: I can do things like Voice of Customer interviews and collaborate with graphic or website designers.
What don’t copywriters do?
I can only talk for myself here. I don’t do web design or development, or graphic design. Instead, I work closely with these experts rather than trying to learn all the things.
For example, if you want a brand new website, then you’ll work with a web designer, a copywriter, and a brand designer. Luckily, I can recommend lots of great people who do those things.
🎬 I don’t do laundry. I don’t do windows. I don’t do carpets. I don’t do diapers.
How much does copywriting cost?
Copywriting for a new website typically costs between NZD $5-$10k + GST. This depends on things like: the number of pages, whether you have an established brand voice, how clear you are on your key messages, target audience and market research.
Individual website pages start at $600 + GST. A monthly email or blog starts at $350 + GST.
The best place to start is a chat, so I can get all the juicy details and give you a comprehensive, fixed-price quote so you know exactly what you’re getting and by when.
How long do projects take?
Copywriting a 4-page website typically takes 4 weeks from start to finish. Emails, blogs, and case studies take about a week. Lots depends on how long you need to review the drafts and the availability of you, your team, and your customers.
One thing is guaranteed: I’ll never miss a deadline. They’re sacred in my world!
Do you do blogs or social media copywriting?
I absolutely can! They fall under the content writing umbrella – designed to educate, inform, or entertain – so serve a slightly different purpose than traditional copywriting, but I’m here for it!
You can see examples of blogs and articles in my portfolio.
PS. Have you seen my LinkedIn Kickstart service?
